Home Improvement Star Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested on Alleged Felony Charge

Zachery Ty Bryan is facing more legal trouble less than a year after a previous arrest.

Per Entertainment Weekly, it’s been revealed from police records that Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested over the weekend for alleged felony DUI and alleged contempt of court, a misdemeanor. The former TV child star and Home Improvement actor was reportedly taken into custody on Saturday in La Quinta, California, and taken to the John Benoit Detention Center. Bryan’s bail for the felony charge was set at $50,000, while the misdemeanor charge’s bail was set at $15,000. The actor was released on bail later on Saturday, and he’s now scheduled to head to court at the Indio Larson Justice Center on April 23.

Tim Allen Teases Home Improvement Revival, Reveals Potential Title

Tim Allen confirms his interest in bringing back Home Improvement and reveals the ideas he has for the potential revival.

This arrest comes a matter of months after Bryan was sentenced for a separate felony conviction in 2023. In July 2023, Bryan was arrested and later pleaded guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree. He was sentenced in October when he was ordered to spend seven days in jail, which had been served by that point, along with attending treatment courses for alcohol and substance abuse. A statement from the Rage: Carrie 2 star’s attorney at the time noted, “Mr. Bryan was actually sentenced to the seven days he had already served and is not required to serve any more jail time. Mr. Bryan cares deeply about his family and has accepted responsibility for recklessly causing substantial physical pain to the mother of his three children. He wishes to put this matter to rest and avoid further trauma to his family.”

Zachery Ty Bryan Has Had Multiple Previous Arrests

Bryan had also been arrested in 2020 when he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend. He would later plead guilty to misdemeanor menacing and misdemeanor assault. The actor would later state in a THR interview that the 2020 arrest had been “blown out of proportion” by the media, adding that the alleged altercation “didn’t even really get that physical.”

“We got really loud. We were screaming and because we were in a townhome that had [thin walls], everybody could hear,” Bryan said of the situation, also claiming that the police poked fun at his fame as a former child star. “At the end of the day, [the police] throw a bunch of counts at you because they ultimately want you to plead to something. I could’ve fought it … but that’s more stress and drama. I got two misdemeanors and called it a day.”

Zachery Ty Bryan is best known for playing Brad Taylor, the oldest of the three boys of the family, on the hit comedy series Home Improvement. He has also appeared in movies like The Rage: Carrie 2, Rustin, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. More recently, Bryan had a role in 2022 for the Netflix series The Guardians of Justice.
