After the June 12 announcement, an OverCat Communications spokesperson said that the company and franchisee of both locations, Lincoln Soma, have since officially parted ways, with Soma indicating he is moving into private ownership.

“At this point the franchise agreement with the Cornwall location actually has been terminated. Our understanding, at this point, is that the former franchisee will continue to operate the store as-is but it will not be under Leon’s name,” said Thalia Policicchio with OverCat Communications.

Soma, who was reached for comment on Monday, did not provide further information before the time of publication. The Leon’s signs are off the property at 1360 Marleau Ave., where the sign says the business is Cornwall Furniture and Appliance Store.

In last week’s press release, Leon’s said that company representatives will be working to fulfill orders already placed by customers in a timely manner and that these customers are being advised of the transition.

“Leon’s has been a part of the Cornwall community for over 30 years,” said Lewis Leon, president of Leon’s, “and we are committed to continuing to provide exceptional service and merchandise assortment.”

Leon’s has added additional customer service support for those Cornwall customers expecting an order, available via email at [email protected] or by phone at 1-866-448-5415 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Cornwall store has reopened since the June 12 announcement, with Boom 101.9 promoting an in-store remote broadcast at the store on Saturday, June 15.
