Maple Ridge Community Foundation puts annual gala on hold

The Maple Ridge Community Foundation has postponed the Citizen of the Year Awards gala until the fall.

Instead, the foundation board is concentrating on their annual golf tournament in June, and trying to get sponsors for the event.

Amy Pridday with the foundation said nominations for Citizen of the Year can still be submitted at, and new event details will be announced at a later date.

The 11th annual Community FORE Charity Golf Tournament is set to take place at the end of June, however sponsors are much needed.

“It’s a great way to mix business with fun,” Pridday said of being an event sponsor.

“There’s different types of sponsorship opportunities and then there’s the opportunity to join in for the day. It’s just a really fun day to get your company out there and then also participate in the golf if you want to or you can just come for the dinner after the fact,” added Pridday.

The foundation is still seeking: a dinner sponsor; a 50/50 sponsor; a wine or beer sponsor; a premier tee box sponsor; a scoring sponsor; a chip into the chest sponsor; a flag sponsor; and a green sponsor.

Sponsors will receive brand recognition on the community foundation’s social medial accounts, website, and event program, among many other perks.

Over 24 years, the Maple Ridge Community Foundation has awarded more than $1,005,675 in grants through its Fall Granting Program, specifically to registered charities dedicated to helping the community of Maple Ridge.

The mandate of the foundation is to maintain and grow a community endowment in support of charitable groups in Maple Ridge so that these organizations can provide services and benefits to the most people possible in the community.

Registration for the golf tournament is now open as well for the tournament on Monday, June 24, at Meadow Gardens Golf Club.
