Zachary Murphy-Rogers Appointed to Law Foundation of British Columbia’s Board of Governors

Please join us in congratulating Estates & Trusts, Charities & Not-For-Profit, and Elder Law partner Zachary Murphy-Rogers on his appointment to the Law Foundation of British Columbia’s Board of Governors.

The Law Foundation of British Columbia is an independent non-profit established in 1969 under the Legal Profession Act. An independent Board of Governors administers the Foundation and is responsible for its governance and making all decisions concerning grants. The Foundation receives the interest on funds held in lawyers’ pooled trust accounts maintained in the banks and credit unions of the province. The Foundation, in turn, distributes these funds through grants to five key areas, including legal education, legal research, legal aid, law reform, and law libraries to benefit all British Columbians. Through funding, collaborative relationships, and shared learning, the Foundation invests in work that empowers people and strengthens communities. Zachary is excited to contribute to this impactful organization, and to support the Foundation’s objectives through his efforts.

The Board has 18 volunteer members, which include:

  • 12 members of the Law Society of British Columbia or the judiciary, appointed by the Benchers of the Law Society to represent the geographical areas of the province.
  • 2 members of the Law Society appointed by the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association.
  • 3 members of the public, not lawyers, appointed by the Attorney General.
  • The Attorney General or their appointee.

Zachary’s appointment was made by the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association.

Congratulations Zachary!
